Music and singing are something that the person with dementia and the carer can share together – when so many other interests and activities can no longer be enjoyed. Song lyrics and music seem to remain in the memory when other critical aspects are lost or forgotten. So it reminds the person of who they are and allows them a glimpse of their former self.
